Combining his hair-styling skill with an artistic background, Anthony is one of the most innovative and creative stylists in the country.
A sixth-generation hair stylist, Anthony was taught by his father and he gave his first haircut at the age of 13. He also painted as a child and went on to attend several art schools, graduating from the California Institute of the Arts, where he majored in painting and design.
His educational background, particularly his expertise in color theory, proved to be a huge asset when he decided to pursue a career in hair design. “I look at hairstyling as a work of art,” Anthony says. “I carefully balance the cut, texture, movement, skin tone and eye color with the hairstyle. Along with suggestions from the client, I’m able to create a look that enhances the client’s natural beauty.”
Speaking of natural, Anthony is a firm believer in the use of all-natural shampoos, conditioners, colors and other products. He has developed his own natural product line, Anthony David, which is available at the salon. These products use natural ingredients and are free of sulfates, parabens and sodium chloride.
Anthony is also one of a few colorists in the country to use NaYo, a revolutionary yogurt-based, hair coloring system. It is free of ammonia, PPD dyes and unpleasant aromas.
"With natural products, we’re not sacrificing quality and we’re providing our clients with a much healthier alternative,” he explains. “It’s better for your hair and healthier overall, especially for people with allergies and other medical conditions.”
He opened the Anthony David Salon in 2010, pledging to provide a unique, creative and healthier experience for clients. “I’m good at what I do because I enjoy it,” Anthony says. “I get to work with wonderful people and express myself artistically. What could be better?”
